A significant proportion of industrial accidents are due to unsafe use of lifting tools and hoisting equipment. By following a training course in safe lifting with the overhead crane (or gantry crane), your employees will gain a better insight into the risks and their consequences. Obtaining a certificate or hoisting certificate to be allowed to hoist is not mandatory, but the Codex well-being at work does state that it is mandatory to have followed thorough instructions for safe hoisting and working. One way to demonstrate this is with a 'Working safely with the overhead crane' certificate.
